The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mechanism was introduced in Russia by Federal Law No. 458-FZ of 29 December 2014 “On Amendments to the Federal Law ‘On Production and Consumption Waste'” in line with the growing trend towards stricter environmental legislation and liability for violating it in Russia.
