However, forcing Apple to comply with the court’s decision will be much more difficult.
VK has filed a lawsuit against Apple in the Moscow Arbitration Court over the removal of its apps from the App Store, according to court records. Apple, Apple Distribution International, and the Russian legal entity Apple Rus LLC are named as defendants. VK is demanding that Apple return the company’s apps to the App Store, restore users’ ability to receive in-app notifications, and, if Apple fails to comply with a future court ruling that orders the restoration of the three apps, collect 58 million rubles per day from the American company.
Daria Bitkina, an Associate at Nordic Star’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology practice, assessed VK’s likelihood of winning the lawsuit.
