ICC Russia: International Arbitration in the Context of Sanctions

On August 23, a webinar of the International Chamber of Commerce – the World Business Organization (ICC) was held. The event focused on practical aspects of international arbitration procedures: fees, the choice of an arbitration clause for new contracts, and other issues.

This event attracted a very wide pool of speakers representing legal consulting, the International Commercial Arbitration Court and Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, and other representatives of the real sector. Among the issues discussed were the future of international arbitration, sanctions restrictions, practical recommendations for selecting an arbitrator and possible grounds for challenging an arbitrator, as well as disputes caused by the impact of sanctions and related to terminating a contract.

Anna Zabrotskaya, Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution practice of Nordic Star law office, participated as a speaker at the event, where she shared the practical aspects and problems of the payment of an arbitration fee by both sanctioned and non-sanctioned companies.
