Sanctions on Gazprombank will at least suspend payments

Washington’s latest measures against Gazprombank will most likely temporarily halt payments for Russian gas supplies, and thus exports to Europe itself, market participants believe, but they see several options for changing the payment system, including through other banks and in another currency. Some experts believe that the United States may subsequently add the bank to the list of exceptions. Consumers of Russian gas themselves expect a new payment system in the near future.
