The number of lawsuits seeking the recovery of unpaid wages in St. Petersburg has nearly doubled. The number of other labor disputes is also on the rise.
Between January and June of this year, St. Petersburg courts received 1,300 claims seeking the recovery of wages, compensation, and other payments. This is nearly double the figure from the first half of 2025, when city courts registered 717 claims involving similar demands.
However, the total value of the awarded claims actually decreased, falling from 108.5 million rubles to 95.4 million rubles. At the same time, labor disputes in St. Petersburg are showing a significant overall increase: while 1,600 such cases were filed in the first half of 2025, that number rose to 2,500 during the January–June period of the current year.
