Experts interviewed by Novy Prospekt are confident that this could cause a new wave of claims from the Federal Antimonopoly Service against numerous franchisees of the sushi delivery service.
Vera Zotova, Ph.D., a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Practice at Nordic Star, thinks that the Court’s ruling adopted on October 9 (which states that “the defendant’s corporate name may be perceived by the Russian consumer as an obscene swear word”) will give impetus to the development of the dispute and take on a new twist.
