Short of planes, Russia asks Central Asian airlines to run domestic flights / Interview / Reuters

Facing a shortage of planes due to Western sanctions, Russia is in talks with some Central Asian countries for their airlines to run domestic flights and help meet a pick up in travel demand.

In an interview with Reuters, Artem Zhavoronkov, Partner at Nordic Star Law Offices, said that airlines from Central Asian countries are unlikely to risk operating domestic flights in Russia as this could expose them to Western sanctions.

This is a serious risk and it is unlikely that large companies from neighbouring countries will be willing to take it, Artem Zhavoronkov said.
