Businessman Oleg Deripaska and his Cyprus-based company Filatona Trading have filed a lawsuit in the High Court of England and Wales against the intelligence unit of international consultancy CT Group and its former employees, according to court documents.
Deripaska and Filatona are seeking to trace the origins of an allegedly forged document that inflated the value of the Trekhgornaya factory. The document was the basis of a lawsuit filed by former Russian Deputy Finance Minister and former VEB head Vladimir Chernukhin. Deripaska’s representative claims that the report is a forgery. In the summer of 2020, Chernukhin dropped his lawsuit, but Deripaska decided to continue the fight against his consultants and filed a lawsuit against them in the Supreme Court in the autumn of 2021. During the trial, the consultants again refused to disclose the name of the company that had produced the controversial report. In October 2024, the court ruled that they were obliged to do so, finding Deripaska’s arguments convincing. A final decision on the case has not yet been made.
