A Tight Security Holiday / Commentary / New Prospect

Supervisory bodies in Russia have banned most business inspections in the coming year. This inspection holiday is unlikely to protect companies from raids by inspectors. However, it has already limited the rights of consumers and employees.

The moratorium, introduced after the start of the military operation and extended into 2023, applies to all legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, and for the first time restricts unscheduled raids. The police, prosecutors, tax authorities and many other supervisory bodies are not subject to the announced anti-crisis measures.

Elena Lebets, an Associate of the Dispute Resolution Practice at Nordic Star Law Offices, commented to independent St. Petersburg business daily New Prospect on the specifics of scheduled and unscheduled inspections of businesses in 2023.
